To be honest, I didn't like this story. The story is based on the fact that Alymer is a huge shallow loser.

I found it both interesting and confusing that a married couple would try an expiriment that could cost one of them a life. They should love eachother enough to except eachothers flaws. There was not a big reason to risk Georgianas life.

I found that the most interesting element of the story was the reference to the myth of pygmalion. Like pygmalion, alymer tried to create the perfect human being. I also thought that alymers desire to entertain his wife before he tried to remove her mark was interesting because it may forshadow her death. I feel as if alymer knew that his wife was going to die, so he wanted to make shure she was happy before she did.

I thought the end was interesting, because Aylmer's experiment went very wrong, but he didn't really learn a lesson. His wife was just another experiment, and even though she died he is stil striving for perfection in his life. He never learns that what he has is good enough.
I thought it was confusing that all of a sudden Aylmer had Aminadab helping him. He just called his name and he was there, like he lived in the house with them or something?

what i found the most interesting about the story is that alymer was married to georgiana before but never really noticed the birthmark, then he started to notice it and hated that little inperfection. i disliked the fact that he wanted the most perfict wife and he was picking this little imperfection, no one is perfect. it shouldnt be what matters on the outside, it matters whats in your heart. i dont think that alymer should have made such a big deal about the birthmark, he should have just seen her for her. but instead he just was obsessed with the birthmark and wanting to get rid of it that his wife started to hate it toand decided to let him get rid of it. and in a way she died because of alymer and his obsession with the thing.

I thought it was interesting how Aylmer did not have a problem with the mark untill this time and then he was compleatly obsessed with this one little thing. In the end even Georgiana hates the mark because of her husband despising it and is willing to do anything to have "a single moment where [Georgiana] might satisfy [Aylmer's] highest and deepest conception"

I didnt like the story because i thought that Alymer should have just appreciated what he had and not be crazy and care so much about one little birthmark

I found the story to be interesting because of the wife and her perspective way to life. She respresented a unique way of goign about her feelings and self-image. I also found it interesting how the husband wanted to make sure that she was happy before she died.

I found it interesting that Almer did not notice the birth mark before he married georgian or if it was going to bother him so much why would he try to change it insteed of just seeing someone else

Although this isn't my favorite story in the world, I do think it's interesting how it portrays the way that a person can easily become so self-absorbed with their own desires that they are unable to see the way they're hurting another person. I also find it incredibly sad the way that Georgianna would do anything to make her jerk of a husband happy.

I didn't enjoy this too much either. I found it kind of boring, and the writing style is a little too bland for me. I suppose if I had to pick something I liked about it, I would say that the idea for the story is pretty good, and it seemingly has a moral.

I thought the most interesting part was that Alymer didn't care about the birthmark until he started thinking about how he could remove it.

I liked that the story focuses on how the human population is so obsessed with self-image. Its a big part of our life these days and the story does well at showing it, especially how somebody could care so much about somethign as small as a birth mark.

I disliked how the birthmark had to be tied into some life meaning and ended up destroying Georgiana.

The most interesting aspect of the story is how Aylmer cannot look past Georgiana's birthmark and see how beautiful she really is, on the exterior and also the interior. I didnt like how she died in the end. If she lived, Aylmer would have realized that with her birthmark, she was more perfect than ever.

I feel that this story[although it was written many eras before now] alludes to society's obsession with perfection even today. Too often we become over concious of physical attributes, comparing ourselves and others to human idols of beaming beauty. In this story, Aylmer seems over extreme with his desire to fix the blemish that spoils the appearance of his wife; but to be honest superficial tendencies endlessly flow deep in the veins today's of magazines, beauty parlors, classrooms, and business environments.
I think the extremity of aylmer's behaviour, risking the life of a women he pledged to love and care for "through sickness and in health"[i presume] is unacceptable.

In my opinion i enjoyed the story. It related to how love was proven then and how love is proven now. Alymer and Georgiana chose to do anything they could to keep eachother happy, because happiness was the foundation to their marraige. In the world we live it today, love is the foundation for happiness, and many people are searching for their "true" love. I mean.....life is hard, but then again, you always have someone sitting right next to you who will help you. Make you laugh when you cry, make you smile when your in the pissiest mood in the whole world, and finally always let you know that everything will be alright and that they love you no matter what happens.

However, in the end of this story i didn't really enjoy how georgiana's life was taken away with the birthmark. I hate those kind of endings to stories. It just ruins the moment of living happily ever after.

I found it interesting in the fact the birthmark represented her soul in that removing it killed her. Alymer eventual created the perfect woman but the cost was her life.

I liked the way the story was written. The language and details were my favorite part of the story. I especially liked the way Georgiana described her husband when she was in his testing room. She admired him so much and thought of him as a mystical man. I thought that was a great part of the story.

I didn't find any parts of the story that I didn't like it was a well written passage.

I think the story is interesting in the way that it relates to today so much. It shows how the world today is so obsessed with self image. I don't like how Georgiana dies at the end and I think it is also confusing. If she had lived I think it would have made more sense.

I thought that it was pretty intresting that Alymer thought of everything in life in a scientific like way. But I didn't like the fact that Georgiana, his wife died because he thought this way.

What I found interesting about this story was that the husband and the wife herself were both willing to put Georgiana's life at risk only to satisfy Aylmer's idea of a "perfect" being. What i didn't like about the story is the fact that Hawthorne wrote it based on what the typical wife at the time would've done (listen to her husband and take his opinion and let it influence her life greatly/make it her own), instead of bringing in a new perspective of a more feministic female and what she might've done in this situation.

To be honest, I didnt really enjoy this story. It was a plain and boring story. The beginning really didnt seem to catch my attention.

In my opinion I liked the story except for the fact that it's not a happy ending. I think is so stupid how Gergiana's small birthmark destroyed her life, and it wasn't even her fault. I hated the fact that alymer was so sefish as to experiment to have it removed. It was thoughtful of Georgiana to go along with alymer and his procedures but I don't think their relationship and their marriage was true because alymer didn't accept gergiana for the way she was.

I liked the scientific aspect of this story, but I didn't really like the story in general. Alymer seemed like a rapist and ended up killing his wife becasue of a birthmark.

The story was okay, I really did not favor Alymer and his judgments of his wife. His obssesion with the birthmark and perfection is very odd, and mean. The fact that Georgiana thought her birthmark was special and her husband thought it horendus is very sad.

i liked the overall story, but i didnt like how the husband didnt like his wife because of one little birthmark, they should love eachother no matter what.

The part that I liked most about the story was how it was easy to visualize what was happening while you were reading the story. It was also pretty easy to follow.

I found the story to be quite interesting in that he can not seem to get over the fact that she has a birthmark. He is so obsesed about it that he even has dreams about it.

I like how intresting Alymer is and how he sees life. I didn't really like the birthmark, main reason was because why would you not like your wife for one little mark; you should love her for who she is. I think if Georgiana likes the way she looks then he should be happy too.

I have to agree with Jared, this story didn't really intrigue me, the only thing that stood out to me was that Alymer was extremely shallow, and only thought about what he wanted in life, and wasn't grateful for what he already has; love.
