During this part of the text Mephisto is talking to a student that is inquiring about Faust's class and his teachings. The student wants to know about the earth and other supernatural being that have to do with it. "My mind is set to know the worth of Nature's laws in heaven and earth, Investigating each resource of science to my satisfaction." (94)This is interesting that he should come to "Faust" for this since he himself is never satisfied. Mephisto then tells of the course but it is interesting that he tells the student to be aware of the inability to learn everything "Next, most important thing of all, to metaphysics you must fall, and see with deep discernment plain, what things won't fit the human brain;" (95)
Later on the student talks about taking some leisurely time and Mephisto warns against it. The student asks Mephisto to sign Faust's book and he writes a foreign language in it. After the student leaves Faust comes back and both he and Mephisto take leave. Faust worries that he will not be a good slave but Mephisto tells him not to worry and also not to worry about material things. "To questions of your luggage pay no heed, on this bold trip there's no such paltry need." This illudes to Mephisto's power of maybe controlling time so they won't need anything no matter were they go.
